Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

2 stars for the OK pizza. Why do these guys have such an attitude, do they hate their jobs or something. I'll never waste my time here again.
(2)Galen A.
Decent crust, pinball/superball machine, and Lagunitas Pilsner on tap. Something for the whole family.

Won't be back. Poor, poor quality, overpriced, cold and overcooked. not sure why so many people were in the joint. My little sister and her friend said the same thing and usually, kids will eat anything. Gross. They used to have the best pizza around Mill Valley, guess it got to their heads! Won't be back until they step it up.
(1)Liz K.
Grabbed a (giant) slice while on my way to Frostings for a cupcake and was pleasantly surprised! For 3 bucks I got a slice the size of 3 - good cheese, thin tasty crust, little greasy but didn't need a napkin to sop up anything. It was a perfect appetizer for my main course - a Frostings cupcake :)
(3)Rebecca L.
I LOVE Stefano's!!! My favorite combo - pepperoni, pineapple, and sundried tomatoes - is as good as it gets!!! I love their simple house salad too. I've been eating Stefano's Pizza for 25 years, and I still love it. Yum!!!
(5)Nicole R.
REALLY yummy pizza. HUGE slices. Don't go here during the night, even on weekdays. You'll feel like an outsider amongst a bunch of eighth graders feeling cool because they got to walk a block away from their house unaccompanied by their parents. "Shit man...that pizza is hella big." Yeah, I kinda felt alone. So I go here during the day when I'm in Mill Valley. This place would be better if there was outside seating.
(4)Jose d.
Yes, the slices at Stefano's are ultra-thin --- that is what I like about it. Coming from NJ, this is the closest semblance to NJ/NY-style pizza you can get in Southern Marin. Slices are huge (actually, they are two slices) and come with a free soft drink for $3.50. Delivery pizzas are thicker than those in-store. So, if you prefer a thin pizza, ask them to prepare it like they do at the store. Finally, Stefano's puts out coupons in all the regular places, so you can get a deal. They also have printable coupons on spendlocally.com
(4)Kyle S.
I have frequented this pizza restaurant since I was five. I have never had a bad pizza. Enough said.
(5)Bob R.
This is a review by a vegetarian Solid by-the-slice pizza. Though it's only the 2nd time it's happened I'm getting a little tired of asking for "a slice" to be presented with a "super-slice" which is just two regular slices that haven't been %100 severed from each other. Enough with the upselling. No one consumes more pizza per pound of body-weight than me. Still $4.50 for two regular slice is a fair price (Are you listening Slice of New York in Sunnyvale?). The staff from Bungalow44 across the street were having their pre-service meal here. I'd hit it again. (Note: I was actually heading for the gelato place next door but decided to have pizza for dessert)
(3)Bryan C.
Love their style of Pizza. They have some interesting garlic bread, try it if you like ranch!
(4)SF U.
An update to our old review: Stefanis is great if you dine in. The $5 huge slice with a drink was more than I could finish.
(3)Thomas W.
Mill Valley reminds me of the NCAL version of Sedona, Arizona. My friends at Kaiser Permanente recommended this place to me for the $4.50 special--two slices and a soda. Indeed it is a good deal. The pizza is okay. If you have ever been to Chuck E Cheese, this is the same pizza that they serve except the slices are smaller. It is certainly enjoyable to eat, but I would not recommend it to me. It seems there are very few places to eat in Mill Valley, CA.
(2)Wendy L.
For $5, you can get a giant slice of good pizza. I'd really like to give Stefano's a 3.5 solely based on their food, but the fact that their solar-based and eco friendly is enough for me to give them an extra 1/2 star (I'm not a die-hard advocate for these kinds of things, but the fact that they're making a conscious effort is commendable).
(4)Annie S.
ok, so I haven't eaten here in a while, but my office has been ordering delivery from them, and it is a completely hideous experience. The drivers refuse to bring the pizza into the office, even though it is only 10 steps (not stairs!) The drivers are rude, and completely unhelpful. They often don't have the correct information as to who the pizzas are for. Also, the pizza is always cold by the time it arrives. I would not waste a penny on this place, especially since there are really great pizza places in southern Marin.
(1)Richard C.
Not great pizza, bland with no flavor. The guys working could care less about customer service. Should have gone elsewhere
(1)Bernard M.
OK, I'm originally from NYC and I'm a pizza snob. I like Johns, Lombardi's, Arturo's, Pepe's in New Haven, Caserta's in Providence, you get the idea. But I like ok pizza just fine too. But this is some of the WORST pizza I've ever had. It's about the same quality of Chuckie Cheese. Another example of downtown Mill Valley restaurants serving terrible food 'cause they can get away with it
(1)Laura C.
I can't help it...I'm a fan. I don't know if it's the nostalgia factor because I've been coming here for over twenty years, or the consistently yummy pizza, or the solar power usage, but I'm always happy with my pie.
(4)Douglas F.
One XL pizza (veggie) and one order garlic bread was $30 after a $6 off coupon. This is a bit too pricy. Delivery was just prior to one hour after order, not bad. Over all taste was OK, crust was a bit soggy at center and flavors lacked a bit. It's alright, but did not shine for the price.
(3)Jack S.
Love when I come in here and no one is in the store, yet they still don't have a piece of pizza ready. Not a single piece. I was unapologetically given my slice after a ten minute wait as the rude Brazilian gangsters who work there sat back watching TV. Ridiculous. Don't want to go back but my girlfriend loves it so I may have to...
(1)Elizabeth L.
Really delicious meatball pizza!
(4)Daniel M.
Not sure why people are bashing this place, but this place was great. The people working there were very friendly to myself and my cousins. The pizza was great as were the drinks. Wasn't the best pizza place that I have been to, but I don't have the need to write an over-dramatic review. If you have kids, they will like this place.
(5)Michael S.
The pizza is good, but hard to compare it to my favorite pizza places in town, which tend toward more gourmet pizza. If you want a more traditional, basic ny style pizza then this is a good bet.
(3)Benjamin G.
Must eat the margaretta pizza. I drove an hour for this pizza. If you like quality pizza you must try it. The crust is thin with bite and all the ingredients taste fresh. This is the closest thing to new york pizza I have ever had.
(5)Jessica K.
Terrible experience tonight Had a groupon that was about to expire My kid loves pizza so we all decided to go Large pie 1/2 cheese 1/2 gourmet veggie plus a large vegetarian salad Still was under 30 bucks (value of the groupon) so I added mushrooms and tomatoes to the pizza Just made it Pizza took forever Kid was pretty restless Salad and dressing were totally flavorless Added all the oregano pepper and seasonings at the table Still bland and awful Pizza was lame Cheese 1/2 was passable Veggie 1/2 sucked Tomatoes were raw not cooked despite all the time it took Flavorless blech Bummer wold love to have enjoyed it all more Support a small local business etc Plus staff was totally grumpy and the place was empty Probably best for plain cheese for a bunch of cub scouts or something
(1)E G.
A "slice" of pizza from Stefano's is the best deal in town, as far as I'm concerned. It's really two slices and the $4.50 price includes a fountain drink. The pizza (I always get pepperoni and mushrooms) is delicious, especially when I ask them to cook it until the crust is crispy. (I'm not such a big fan of the pizza at the Corte Madera location; for some reason, the pizza isn't nearly as tasty.)
(4)Rick R.
Living in Manhattan for over 11 years makes it terribly hard to match great NYC pizza and this place comes as close as you can possibly get ----- BRAVO!
(5)Lindsay R.
This is some of the worst pizza we've ever had. The price isn't even right it's $5 for a slice and soda and they don't even have good soda, I thoght RC went out with the 90's. We got the garlic cheese bread and even that was terrible. Bad salad. Dirty atmosphere. Why does everyone love this place? Never wasting my money here again. I seem to forget how bad it is every time I come here I've been here a lot. I wanted to ask for a refund.
(1)Bella B.
I am so in love with their pizza. The cheese only is off the hook! I really enjoyed every damn pie I ever got from this place, so I can not say 1 bad thing about them. I would like to see some others "throw together" a better pie....even if they sat in a pizza shop all day. And since I don't have time for that, I will settle for really good pizza from Stefano's when in Mill Valley.
(5)Rick W.
The pizza was just "ok" nothing special by any means. I've actually had Dominos pizzas that were better. What was most annoying though was the service. Mid twenties guy running the register Saturday evening had a huge attitude, acted like he was doing me a favor to take my order. To make matters worse, I'm new to the area and learned that the guy ringing me up as eating in-house, even though I specified to-go, triggered a tax on my order. This is a never visit again place.
(1)Laleh J.
Was good and hit the spot!
(4)Kate S.
Just got off the phone with them from placing an order for delivery and almost told them to forget it. Really really rude staff, needs to change their attitude - why would you think it's okay to mock your customers? Never ordering from here again.
(1)Gwynaeth A.
ordered a small pie...half cheese blk olive-half chicken, mushroom, onion and white sauce. Also a ceaser salad. The ceaser was huge! Too much actually...even for two to share. My daughter said it was bad. I thought it tasted like horseradish(maybe they put that stay fresh stuff on it...?). The pizza tasted good....good crust....but the chicken with white sauce quickly became mushy and wet. Way too many mushrooms(lots of water in mushrooms). I'd probably try this again...but maybe something more simple....like cheese & pepperoni.
(2)Sophie D.
Huuuuuuuuuge slices you need a napkin to dab the oil off of. At night, this place becomes THE hang out spot for local teens wanting to make out in the alley behind or gossip in the bathroom. So avoid this place at night. It's cool that they've gone solar-powered. They also endured a car that drove straight into the restaurant a year or so ago. It's a cheap place to get a giant slice of pizza. Yep.
(4)Courtney C.
I come in here on my lunch break about once a week or so and today I thought would be like all the rest but when I was sitting down and eating a couple people came in with a Stefano sign and they were going to do some drilling to hang it up and one of the people came over to offer me a free cookie for the inconvenience...now that is customer service and it wasn't even that loud I'm impressed
(5)Russ D.
We have thrown enough money at Stephanos in Mill Valley over the years to have a good idea of the service. The person that answers the phone today for our order was rude!! He shouldn't be answering phones if his people skills are that bad. I was hung up on and and promptly called back and told him, to which he responds, " what do you want?" They need someone better than that on the phones!
(1)Neil W.
I was going to get a burger across the street but seeing that Stefano delivers to my hometown Sausalito, I thought give them a try because it could be another choice for delivery. So, to do the test properly I decided to get the old standby Sausage and Mushroom and get a whole pie because I've found there's a lot of difference between a slice and a fresh whole pie just out of the oven. I was barely greeted by the two men when I came in and walked up to the counter. Almost like I was interrupting them although they didn't seem like they were doing anything. I started out with a salad and definitely was not impressed. Not an ounce of Soul in this puppy. Maybe the pie will save the day. Boy, was I wrong. After a couple of slices, I thought. ..enough, I'll just take it home along with the rest of the salad. Then I thought, Why? Why bother taking home one of the worst Pizzas I've had in years. So I left the 4 slices and the half salad behind. In the 40 minutes in the place I was the only dinner there, not even people in for a slice although quite a few whole pizza pickups. A few weeks later when I was back in Mill Valley, I was eating at the hamburger place across the street and I asked a local young couple if they'd ever eaten at Stefano and they said yes but when I asked them what they thought I got the feeling they weren't being totally forthcoming and were trying to be polite and not put a local merchant down. Probably of the school of thought that says "Don't Ever say bad things." but I'm of the school of Tell it like it is. Finally, when I told them of my experience, they chimed in and admitted they too had some of the worst pizza of their life there. I really don't get it. They've been in business a zillion years, maybe 40 and there's dozens of real good pizza places in Mill Valley, so how can this be? I guess they survive on delivery. Maybe no one else in town delivers, idk. Well, too bad. I was expecting to write a descent review. Still searching for anyone not in Sausalito who delivers.
(1)David S.
We've been eating Stefano's pizza for over 30-years. We have finally decided that we are done with Stefano's. The guys that work there are impolite, discourteous, and they generally act like you are disturbing them by entering their restaurant. The pizza has become over the years worse and the prices have become unreasonable. We are sorry to leave a longtime Mill Valley business; however, the time has come to leave Stefano's behind and take our business elsewhere. Sorry to say goodbye Stefano's, but you only have yourself to blame.
(2)Ric S.
Just mediocre. Probably a little worse than frozen from the market. Crust is cardboardy. Very salty. If you have 3-4 slices expect to be gulping water. Would have given them 3 stars just for being a local business vs larger chain, but subtracted that for no peppers or parmesan on delivery. Even with the $6 off coupon it wasn't a bargain and it wins the worse pizza in the area award.
(2)justine s.
i hesitated at first before i went inside. stefanos did nt have the fancy interior that most mill valley establishments have. but to my surprise the pizza ingredients were first class. it was nice to be able to order a slice of pizza asap for my friends daughter, while waiting for our pizza. the pizza was great. the crust was fully cooked and not doughy like a lot of other pizza places. there was a little too much cheese on the pizza. this just meant i had to do a little more card io in the gym. all in all, i really liked the pizza and staff was really sweet. i will defiantly go back again and again.
(5)Judy K.
The PESTO DELIGHT is a must try - Artichoke hearts, mushrooms, TONS of garlic and made with Pesto Sauce! Their pizza comes on a thin, soft crust. Even my boys said it was DELICIOUS!
(4)Diana H.
Okay, here's the truth about Stefano's. I live very close to it, don't dispute me. Stefano's is thin, thin, thin, thin crust, with a smear of tomato sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. There's really not much there. I usually get slices, which are big, and by big I mean wide and thin, like they were steam-rolled. Comes with a free drink to cheer you up about the steam-rolling. Lot's of annoying middle schoolers use it as the hang-out spot before their 10 o'clock curfews. Be warned. Quite frankly, the only reason I go is because they are the only fully solar-powered pizza place in the United States (or so they claim). But, the pizza sucked before the solar power, and it sucks now. I go to support the environmentally-friendly trend. More business should be solar-powered, and I respect Stefano's for the their charge. But, honestly, it sucks. Don't go, unless you like to eat ultra-floppy, thin, wide, strips of wet dough. Service sucks, too. Probably because they're constantly being berated by annoying 13 year olds.
(1)Elizabeth H.
i have a love hate relationship with this place. its around the corner from where i live, too close to ignore and i have a tendency to go out for hh in the city after work, drag myself over the bridge and find myself trying to act sober at the stefanos counter getting a slice. its insanely inconsistent. you would think, after a few drinks any slice would be good but that's not the case. sometimes its soooo greasy, other times you can tell its been sittin there longer than any slice should-the hate. but lo and behold last friday, i got a slice with broc, blk olives and onions and it was excellent... just the right amount of cheese, not too greasy, firm crispy crust-the love. of course i'll be back, where else where i go?
(3)Marie D.
When this place is ON, some of the best pizza in Marin by far. But I have to agree with some of the other posts, it can be fairly inconsistent depending on the time of day and crowd (or lackthereof). However, one of the few places in the entire county to find a SLICE of pizza and it doesn't close at 8pm, so that earns huge pluses, as well.
(4)Jen J.
Pieces the size of two hands put together, but what ends up happening is the tips of the pizza get really oily and floppy. That doesn't sound very appetizing but they are pretty good if you get a slice right out of the oven. Small place, good for a sunny day when you can eat outside. Thin crust for the most part.
(3)Emily L.
I have eaten Stefano's pizza for years, I used to live within walking distance (95 stairs) from the one in Corte Madera. They are the best out of the two. I do love the fact that it is a solar powered pizzeria, that is a wonderful thing to feel when you are biting into a gooey slice of thin cheesy wonder. They have a great slice deal with a soda, if you drink soda. They are so slow when it comes to the delivery, and they are not at all in a large town, I could almost drive to Safeway and back, heat up the oven and cook a pizza in the time it takes them to deliver it. So you should pick it up. The pizza is totally overpriced and the same pizza can be had from Rocco's it is owned by the same person. Faster delivery, cheaper and same ingredients. Just not "Solar powered"
(2)Randy C.
How could you not support a 100% solar-powered pizzeria! The only one in the US! I'm a fan of the Mill Valley favorite w/ pesto. YUM! Delivery service is as solid as it gets!
(5)Nico v.
I wish I could give them less than one star. I have given this place numerous chances to demonstrate they can make and deliver a good quality pizza, but they failed for the last time last week. They were very rude when I ordered... told me 45 min for delivery. I called them back after an hour and 15 mins. "It's on the way!" Again, rude. I said I wanted to make sure it was still hot otherwise I would cancel my order. "Oh, yeah... it'll be hot." Pizza showed up after 1.5 hours completely cold. I'd guess it was made over two hours prior. It's stealing. This is the fourth time this has happened... at least they are consistent. Solar or not... deliver what you promise. I like nothing about this place.
(1)TEAMGOLDUSA S.
How good is Stefano's? We drove all the way from Virginia, just for a slice. Yes...It's that good. Many years earlier, back when Stefano's was across the street and the THS football team mascot was "Indian" we would go to Stefano's after every...loss. Having the best pizza is only half the score. The other half comes from the great service. Taylor, a graduating senior let me know that while the Tam football history continues, so does the tradition of Stefano's Great Pizza, Outstanding Value, and Perfect Service. When I mean outstanding service, I mean she will literally give you the shirt of her back. Thank you so much...Marc, Michelle, Joel, Catherine, Elizabeth (birthday girl), and Grace.
(5)Antonio G.
I am a true italian, so I know good pizza. Their pizza is great!
(4)Elizabeth H.
By far some of the best pizza in Marin! Love, love, love the crusts and the pizza is never too saucy. The staff is always nice and the food is always prepared on time! I think the best part about this place is that it's almost entirely solar powered! Very eco-friendly!
(5)doug c.
I'm from back east and without a doubt this is my favorite slice in Marin. If your looking for an expensive, fancy pizza go somewhere else, If you want a good slice and soda(RC on tap) for around $4 look no further.
(3)Kevin B.
Whoa - can't believe I'm actually writing a one-star review (especially for a place that I've liked for so long). Came in here last night around 7:30pm for a slice of pepperoni. The place was empty, so this should have been a pretty quick in & out transaction. Unfortunately, I waited for almost 15 minutes. I kept looking at the cashier for some kind of heads-up. It was pretty obvious that he forgot to put the order in. At minute 15, he finally acknowledged me and said my pizza would be ready in a few minutes. Seriously, dude? You're a pizzeria. Your job is to sell pizza slices. No one's in your store, so there's no reason why it should take 15 minutes to re-heat a slice of pizza in your hot oven. Long story short: I finally gave up and asked for my money back. What was truly surprising was how unapologetic the cashier was. I almost got the feeling that he thought this ordeal was funny. He just handed me five bucks and turned around as though I was inconveniencing him. Stefano's - I really dig your pizza. I know you guys serve your community well. I really want to continue supporting you, but this kind of business practice is unacceptable.
(1)Stacie D.
Great pizza by the slice! I love that it's been around since 1972! Free coke with your slice. Can't beat it! I recommend their signature slice of Sausage and green peppers.
(5)Jason A.
Okay I'm giving this place 3 stars based on this being the west coast. In other words, it's all relative. I probably wouldn't pick this place back east for delivery, but out here it's the closest I've had to NY style pizza. The pizza is good, toppings are decent. Now if they could actually deliver it to me and keep it a little better than luke warm all would be good. The sides I've tried with the pizza (wings, garlic bread) weren't the best, going to stick with pizza in the future.
(3)Ana L.
Stumbled in with my husband not sure if I wanted pizza.. immediately we were greeted with a smile and information. I couldn't say no after great service, I'm glad I didn't because the pizza was a PERFECT. Thin crust with an abundance of delicious flavor. Great pizza, great price. Must try!
(5)Michael Brandy V.
I worked at Stefano's as a kid since 1982 and it's only gotten better. Everything is made fresh every morning, usually as the sun is coming up. I love the staff, the Pizza couldn't be better, and I love that they are Solar. Thanks for all the Pizza these past 3 decades!
(5)A P.
Stefano's just lost a 15 year long customer. Obviously I always thought the pizza was alright to have gone back over that long of a span. Not great, and nowhere near NYC street slices, but one of the better delivery options for Southern Marin. But their delivery practices are an absolute deal breaker. This was the 2nd attempt in a row that took at least an hour & a half for delivery. Tonight was actually 4 minutes short of 2 HOURS. I was told 45 mins when I placed the order. And naturally, the pizza was cold. Nothing like paying full price for a pizza with hard cold cheese. I'm officially out. I would be a moron to let you ditch me with a crew of hungry (and therefore cranky) kids yet again.
(1)Kelly S.
It's clear that many of the people who yelped this business did not have realistic expectations. They are clearly a grab and go style pizzeria and there's nothing wrong with that. We are from the East Coast and never expect much when it comes to pizza and honestly usually order Domino's for consistency's sake. We ordered a large extra cheese for pick-up from Stefano's tonight. The cashier was really nice, accepted our coupon, and even advised us to keep it to use for next time! It was ready on time and still piping hot by the time we got it home. Pizza was tasty, good sauce and cheese... nothing to write home about, but it was honestly pretty good. We will come back for sure.
(4)Stephen A.
After numerous pizzas later, they are getting better. However, there are times where I'm waiting almost two hours. Regardless, it is still better than some of the other pizzerias in Mill Valley.
(4)Jen W.
So there aren't many things that bother me when I eat a restaurant...but here's one that really irks me: CLEANLINESS. Simple health department procedures yanno? I've been to stefano's before when I was in the area...decided to pick up a groupon $15 for $30. Came by today to pick up my to-go order...and completely disgusted when I saw a guy handling money with his gloves as he was helping a customer pay...and then moving on to flipping a pizza without changing his gloves or washing his hands. Seriously disgusting. I wanted to support a local pizzeria...but I think domino's probably has better health standards. Stefano's? No thanks. Never again.
(1)Sheila H.
NOT AS COOL AS THEIR SOLAR POWER Beware! do not upset THESE dudes. I had money thrown at me tonight...because I ordered online (Eat24) ( I do not suggest this....BIG hassle)(also had a gift card which you cannot use if you order online....but it doesn't say this on the gift certificate anywhere)...okay...so I had a lot going on....immediately after ordering, I PHONED the MV Stefano's just to make certain that my order was right. I ordered 3 pizzas and a piece of carrot cake. When I phoned, the person who answered said, let me look, "YES, we HAVE carrot cake". But because of the gift certificate, I couldn't have my ordered delivered, so I drove down...only to be lied to and told that they haven't had carrot cake in "1 or 2 days". "What do you want!" is said to me in a heightened voice. I say, "I want you to set aside the carrot cake when someone orders online, next time", as that piece is sold. (PS, I didn't say THIS,but I also do not want to be lied to when you make that mistake, then do not want to own up to it.) I was offered 4 cookies, but I said, no thanks, I would rather have my money back (I had already been rung up, but no carrot cake was given to me with my pizzas.) So the owner? manager? both? said, "what is carrot cake? $2.25?" And he threw a $5 bill at me. I said, sarcastically...."Thanks! for being so professional". Bye bye Stefanos! Had to use my gift certificate up. Too bad that the manager was having such bad night. I think they have good pizza. I think they are cool because they use solar power. I think they are a local MV business, and I love to support that. However, they made a mistake, and if they had just said..."Shoot! we made a mistake! We sold you a piece of cake on line, but we forgot to set it aside. Please, let us deliver you a piece tomorrow". Something! Good customer service!! THEN, they might be the MV business that I would want to continue to support. But anger? When THEY made a mistake? nooooooooooo
(1)Alysha K.
Stefano's gets some bonus points from me since I work right next door & they are always so nice! Here are some tips: -If you walk-in to get a slice, they usually only have pepperoni and/or cheese available. It's $5 for a slice & drink combo. If you don't want the drink, it will still be $5. -The slice is HUGE & actually equivalent to 2 slices. If it's been "sitting" for awhile, they will heat it up for you in the oven. Either way, it's still pretty oily. -Call in your order if you want anything other than a slice or salad (sandwiches, chicken tenders, & even garlic bread take about 15-20 minutes). -The BEST is to order whole pizzas because you know it's fresh AND the thin crust will be perfectly crispy. -This is a small location with limited tables (that are really never full). And last but not least... If you have a power outage (like how my company did yesterday), Stefano's will still be open since they run solar powered!
(4)Calvin R.
Not sure why some people dont like this place. Anyhow i have been a regular since 3rd grade and aside from the pizza being a tad too oily its better than most places in Marin, glad they support solar energy too. Single slice cheese is hands down the best deal in terms of money for quantity and taste.

First of all, let's talk about the pizza: it is not very good. The crust is a little mealy, the sauce is a little too sweet but otherwise lacking in flavor, the cheese, at least, was appropriately cheesy. Now, keep in mind that this is solar powered pizza, which begs the question: how do they make pizza at night?

Average little pizza place. The pizza was decent better then say , dominos which is not hard to do. Ordered garlic cheese bread which was overpriced and had some weird creamy cheese sauce on it. Not impressed and something about that line I just wrote makes me want to vomit. Customer service was neither here nor there, big guy who rang us up was neither hostile nor friendly. To him I give the starbucks shrug. Pizza itself tasted better cold the next day for some reason. For a large pizza and a order of garlic bread it was 30 dollars. Woudl I go there again? I really cant say, Their pizza is not calling me back, their garlic bread makes me want to run away and the service makes me feel blah. We'll see prehaps one desperate night when I have a good movie to watch and dont feel like cooking maybe. Until then , 3 stars for you . update- went back in I was lured in by a coupon for cheese pizzas. This pizza was such a sad affair I was sure it would have felt more at home at the Fresh choice salad bar, with the rest of the red rectangles masqurading as pizza. Minus one star and made up my mind about Stephanos, Stephanos= no go. I dont care if you use solar energy to make red recatangles or not.

I suppose I can say I am a fan of Stefano's Pizza because I eat here at least once a week. Their Pizza's are really good for being "solar powered." I don't have a usual dish I like to mix it up from time to time however there are two Pizza combinations that I am a huge of. Pizza combination one... Peperoni, Linguica, extra cheese with mushrooms and spinach. Pizza combination two pesto sauce with extra cheese, chicken mushrooms and spinach! Both are crazy good! The only issue I have with Stefano's Pizza is that there pizza isn't cheap! Its in Mill Valley s what can you expect?

We ordered several different types for a going away party at work. Got in and had a bit of a wait for our pizza to finish. The location is a bit difficult as downtown Mill Valley is hard to find parking in and the streets are a bit puzzle-like. Lots of school kids hang out here. Also excellent because of their environmental thinking. All of our pizza's tasted pretty good. I wasn't blown out of the water, but for a non-pizza lover, the desire to return to grab a slice if I'm in the area speaks lengths to the good job that they did do! They have all different combinations that are very different from other pizza places I have been to. Prices are a bit high. Wait time can be long. Small location may make seating difficult if you choose to eat in. Parking, definitely a challenge, but it's a local family business!

1 star for solar powered. Sub-par pizza slices....Old cardboard re-heated pizza with raw toppings scattered about and re-heated. So bummed I just ate that.

I am from NY. I hate Californian 'pizza'. Stefano's is the closest thing I have tasted to NY style pizza in my 6 years living in the bay... and I have tried it everywhere until I've been discouraged over the past 3 years. I was getting my hair done next door and stopped in on a whim and I will seriously search this place out next time I get a craving for real pizza.

Props for Solar Power, and pizza by the slice! I think the service is fine... guys are friendly enough. The pizza slices are mediocre at best... but I won't stop going there - so it isn't THAT bad. A slice is basically two slices (HUGE, but very thin pieces). Sprinkle some hot peppers and oregano on it, and it helps. The place itself is a bit of a disaster. Seems like 99% of the time I walk in, the tables are super messy. But grab your slice and walk down to Film Night in Old Mill Park... can't beat that, really. It works. Totally unhealthy... but inexpensive and filling. No wonder I used to go there a lot back in my High School Days.

Bland. Blah. Boring.

The only place in Mill Valley where you can get a slice. Hit-or-miss. Not half-bad but not really that good either. Service is meh - these guys would probably rather be watching soccer. 100% solar powered? Cool but doesn't make the pizza taste any better! Too bad - it could be great if they cleaned the place up.

I stole a piece of my co-worker's veggie pizza and it was yummy! I was super impressed with the very large quantity of veggies. There were so many olives and green peppers and a little less, but just the right amount, of onions. Also, the dough was very good and there was not too much cheese or sauce. Some might prefer their pizza cheesier and saucier but my favorite parts of pizza are the crust and the toppings!

Who else can truthfully claim they are 100% solar powered? These guys can. The pizza was good, not great, but the vegetables were fresh, the sauce was good and the crust wasn't too thick or chewy. We had a big salad before our pizza arrived and it was delicious. The prices are reasonable (two of us: a medium pizza and a huge salad was $27 including the tip). We chose Stefano's because we were dressed in our hiking/running clothes and were famished! Not many places exist downtown where you could walk in and not made to feel like a homeless person in Mill Valley dressed like we were. Oh and when I say outdoor seating I mean there is a bench three people could comfortably sit on while enjoying a slice or two. They do not have any tables though.

Growing up in Mill Valley, I used to frequent this pizza joint. Dining in, it is quite good when fresh. However, my family/friends often insist on ordering delivery and it is TERRIBLE every time. The food is cold by the time it arrives, it tends to be overpriced when you order by whole pizza (especially with toppings), and they charge for delivery. Do NOT order delivery from this place and expect it to be good!

My Second favorite Pizza in the world. Get a slice.

Best delivery pizza in the neighborhood! Staff was very friendly, the crust crispy, and pizza tasty. Way better than a recent delivery from Amici's!
(5)Nikki D.
Best west coast pizza! Friendly staff, prompt service on deliveries and best of all....Solar Powered! What can I say you can't go wrong by eating here!

Ever since my eldest son became a boy scout, we made it a weekly ritual to go to Stefanos for a slice. The "slice" is really 2 slices and comes with a fountain soda. Stefanos is run by Brazilians and they know how to make pizza. Their restaurant is clean and the vibes are good. We compare most pizza to Stefanos. It's not gourmet pizza, but it's very fresh and delicious with high quality ingredients.

Post-DYK hike on Sunday, we all needed a beer. Food is second fiddle this day. This place has Gordon Biersh and some other beer on tap, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale maybe? I don't remember, we got the Biersh... by the pitcher. Yeah why waste time with bitty little pint glasses. The pizza here had a nice amount of cheese. And the crust was thin and crispy. Not cracker crispy, but normal thin crust like. The pepperoni had good flavor too. And the best thing about this place? The cute girl behind the counter with the pretty smile? Nah, best thing is that this place uses solar power. Really. Their electricity bill used to be $12k/year and now its only $80. Awesome! Good for the environment, good for their bottom line. Ehhhh who am I kidding, that solar stuff is the THIRD best thing. Of course the beer and girl take precedence. P.S. Best deal in town, a *humungous* slice of pizza and a drink for $3.50. Too bad "drink" doesn't mean beer. 3 stars for the pizza and beer +1 star for the solar power with the pretty smile

I must say for a Post-DYK hike, this really hit the spot. Bryan, JR, and myself were on a recon mission in downtown Mill Valley...Primary objective: Find Cold Beer. Secondary Objective: Find good food. During our "mission," we stumbled across several decent places...but most were either closed (3pm, Sunday...come on people!) or did not serve beer. In the name of (Insert Heavenly figure here), how hard is it to find a cold brew in Mill Valley?? We actually spotted Stefano's as one of the first places, but decided to call it our last resort. And...before we knew it, we were grabbing a table, ordering a large cheese pizza and pitcher(s) of Biersch Pilsner. The pizza was very good, lots of cheese and thin crust, just the way I like it. The beer was better...duh! And on a very cool note, this place is powered by 100% Solar Energy. They have a huge sign that says so! According to them, they used to spend $12K / year on electricity...now only $80.00 / year. Wow! Sign me up!

First of all you should know that I am a die hard deep dish girl. But...I am married to a NY thin fan so hey, I am trying to broaden my horizons. I wanted to like these guys, really. After all who can argue with someone who is trying to leave less of a footprint on the world. But I was totally underwhelmed by the pie that showed up at my door tonight. In fact so much so that I kind of lost my appetite. And really...$45 for a medium and large? Also, what's the deal with no small? Sorry guys, you are going to have to spice it up a but if you plan on wooing this girl from the South Side.

I've been eating here for years because the slices are great; pretty damned close to NY pizza. But the service stinks. I went in there today. "I'd like a slice." "Ok, no slices for 20 minutes." He walks away. What exactly do they do there if they can't serve up a pizza slice? I gave up and went to Pearl's across the street, where they actually are good about putting food on your table any time of day.

Update 3/24 Getting better - tacked on another star Marin lacks good pizza and I guess this is why people think this place is good. This is basic run of the mill stuff that most anyone could throw together if they sat in a pizza shop all day - nothing creative about it - RTP has more flavor. The one thing that I do like is you can get a slice although it may have been sitting the the rack for 2+ hours - you can still get a slice.
(3)Nicolas H.
Not bad, definitely a step up from Dario's. But once again, the pizza ends up falling apart if too many toppings are piled on. Best bet is to stick with the pepperoni, as it seemed to be fully cooked, with a darker brown crust. They also claim to run their business on Solar Power energy. Doesn't do much to help the lack of sauce on the slices, but at least the environment is happy...

What can I say? Rude when I ordered. Rude when they arrived 1 hr 20min later with a cold pizza. No ranch dressing for my salad like I asked on the phone. No parm or peppers like I asked. The guy gave me change of a $10 dollar bill. He owed me another .95 cents but he obviously assumed I would be tipping that for sure. So I asked him for change on my 10 and it was like a 5 min process to get him to give me the change back. "How much do you need back." ? Like it was a real hassle, and I should just give him the 10. So I am upset that my pizza is ice cold and they forgot everything, so I call to complain. "What is the problem"? Well my pizza is ice cold and the pizza is an hour and 20 min late and and you forgot the dressing for the salad and you did not bring peppers and cheese like I asked. "Well sir it has not been an hour and 20 min. You called at 4: 12 and now it is 5:17." There pizza is not that good to have to deal with the dicks that work at stefano's pizza. I hung up on them and I am just done with them. They used to make good pizza back in the day, what happened?

My husband and I drove by and had a couple of cheese slices around 9-10pm one night, and it wasn't bad. The pizza reminded us of NY pizza... that had been sitting around for half an hour or so. Not bad, but not great. A-OK.
